The ALGOA Organic Foundation Course
The ALGOA Organic Foundation Course was successfully held last April 24th – May 1st in Goesan County, South Korea. As the holder of the seat of presidency for ALGOA, Goesan hosted 21 trainees from 10 countries and territories all over Asia.
The ALGOA Philippines Members’ Forum
The Philippine members of the Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture (ALGOA) had an ALGOA Philippines Members’ Forum on September 18th, 2018 at the Highlands, Bislig City. The event was organized by the League of Organic Agriculture Municipalities and Cities in the Philippines (LOAMC), a group composed of 121 mayors who are strong advocates of Organic Agriculture and who implement numerous organic agriculture programs in their respective municipalities.
Historic Launch of ALGOA – the network of Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture
The Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture (ALGOA) was initiated by IFOAM Organics Asia in 2013 with the aim of fostering dialogue and cooperation among Asian local governments for the development of organic agriculture and its related industries. ALGOA is a daughter organization of IFOAM Organics Asia.
The 2nd ALGOA Summit to be held in Goesan County, South Korea (September 28th to 30th, 2016)
ALGOA or the “Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture” was established by IFOAM Asia with the full financial support of Goesan County in September 2015 to promote the full adoption of organic farming practices in Asia. Currently, there are more than 40 local governments and organic groups from 15 countries participate in ALGOA as members.
The 2nd ALGOA Summit was a Success!
The 2nd ALGOA Summit under the Presidency of Goesan County, was successfully concluded with the participation 58 participants from 14 countries in Asia including Kyrgyzstan.
The VIPs to the Summit included Mr Andre Leu, the President of IFOAM Organics International whose keynote speech drew a lot of interest from the participants as he highlighted the dangers of pesticides and why local governments should support the development of Organic Agriculture.

The 2nd Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture (ALGOA) Summit was held September 28-30, 2016 at the Organic County of Geosan, South Korea. The Summit includes speeches and presentations from Andre Lu, President of IFOAM Organics International; Zhou Zejiang, President of IFOAM Asia; and papers from Korea, India, China, Bhutan, Philippines, among others.
