The Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture (ALGOA) was initiated by IFOAM-Organics Asia in 2013 with the aim of fostering dialogue and cooperation among Asian local governments for the development of organic agriculture and its related industries.

Goesan County is a county in South Korea and is one of Korea’s best healing designations and is a proud city of organic farming and longevity. The IFOAM Asia office is located in downtown Goesan, solidifying the county's reputation as a major organic agriculture destination in the country. The ALGOA-Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture and IN.N.E.R. – International Network of Eco Regions decided to cooperate closely to promote a wider adoption of organic agriculture practices & disseminate them in other continents. IFOAM EU, IFOAM Asia and IFOAM – Organics International encouraged this alliance and will monitor its development.

On Sept 18th, more than a thousand people from 33 countries all over the world participated at the 5th ALGOA Anniversary Celebrations which included the official launching of the Young Organic Global Network (YOGN) and the matriculation ceremony of the Organic Foundation Course. The events were stream-lived on Facebook and Youtube.
